The First Voyage was the event where Deca Space evacuated the Sol system due to an ongoing Astrophage infection and the complete impossibility of being able to stop it.

Timeline

Discovery of Astrophage

Astrophage was discovered approaching initially by the Voyager 1 spacecraft on 31st November 2074, which was 0.003ly away at the time. 26 hours later, the Sun's luminosity was noticeably falling at a fast rate. Based on the rate this was happening the average temperature would reach -10ºC by 2080 and 0 Kelvin by 2142. It was decided to prepare an evacuation plan should this not stop. Additionally, the Hail Mary was sent by NASA, Roscosmos, Deca Space, and CNSA, with Dr Ryland Grace, on March 19th 2075.

Evacuation

By January 2076, the rate of which the Sun's luminosity was quadratically increasing and Project Hail Mary would have returned past the point of Absolute Zero, which was now determined to be June 2077. Immediate evacuations were conducted by Deca Space with plans for intergalactic starships made. The final design as the Stargazer, capable of accelerating to a maximum speed of 99.99999999999% the speed of light.

Stellar Voyage

On April 21st 2076, DecaSpace transported all of its active crew personnel to several Stargazer spacecraft. The ideal destination was the nearest galaxy, being Andromeda. Due to the time dilation caused by travelling at 0.9999999999999c, the trip took only 11.18037138166424 years in the ship's perspective, however from Earth's perspective it took 2.5 million years. Thus the Gregorian calendar could no longer be used and a new one was adopted, the Decanian Calendar. The arrival date, which is estimated to be AD 2502076, was renamed to 0 APD (After Planet Deca).
